I get questions from time to time on my various Facebook pages, and sometimes on posts that I write, asking for more frequent updates on daily deals and specials. Last summer, and during the early fall, I tried to update these pretty regularly, daily even on one of my blogs. But, then life, as it so often does, became too hectic, and I had no time to research the deals to keep them updated. Many are pretty time sensitive, so it’s not something that can be done on a weekly basis, it needs to be researched and updated first thing in the morning so your visitors and readers have plenty of time to visit the sites and purchase deals that meet their needs. I still try to occasionally post a deal or two here or there that I stumble across and purchase myself. If I see one that meets my needs, I try to always share with others in case they have a need for that item as well.
Sometimes people wonder if bloggers get paid commissions on the links they post with the deals. I would always assume they do, unless they specifically state otherwise. It’s rarely a large amount per item, sometimes a flat fee of $1 or less, other times a commission of 10% or less. Usually less. When you take into consideration the amount of time and effort that they put into researching these deals, signing up with places to be notified of the deals, and completing all of the back-end work associated with publishing them, they deserve at least the amount they are earning.
When I don’t have time to post deals myself, or even sort through the various emails that I get daily about the hottest deals of the day, or even if I find a deal in one of the emails that matches my need, I have a handful of sites that I visit when I need to make a purchase. Generally when you are an affiliate for a site, you do not get credit for your own purchases. So, I always try to find a fellow blogger who is an affiliate for the company I am making a purchase through, so that someone is getting a small piece of the pie from my purchases. One site that I recommend is frugaldad.com for amazon specials. He always has the latest deals posted, many that I haven’t seen, and tons of discount codes and free shipping codes that I can use to lower my purchase price!
